چکیده

INTRODUCTION The use of a pre-contrast reference image, referred to as a mask, to suppress background signal and improve output contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) through subtraction is common in contrast-enhanced MR angiography. It is critical that this operation be performed to optimize output image quality. As has been previously reported [1-3] it is advantageous to use complex subtraction for this removal operation. In this work we extend this discussion to the optimal selection of the mask for the case of 3D time-resolved view-shared reconstructions, using the CAPR sequence [4] as an example.

Contrast-enhanced MR angiography of intracranial giant aneurysms.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Intravoxel phase dispersion and flow saturation often prevent adequate depiction of intracranial giant aneurysms on 3D time-of-flight (3D-TOF) MR angiography (MRA). Additional diagnostic difficulties may arise from T1 contamination artifact of an associated blood clot. Our aim was to assess whether contrast-enhanced MRA could improve the evaluation of giant aneurysms and ...

3D contrast-enhanced MRA of the runoff vessels: value of image subtraction

Introduction: Diagnostic accuracy and cost will determine the success of contrast-enhanced 3D MRA in replacing catheter-based digital subtraction angiography (DSA) as the modality of choice for assessing the peripheral run-off arteries. Image subtraction, proposed by some investigators as a way to enhance diagnostic accuracy (1) lengthens data acquisition and post-processing times and therefore...

MR angiography of dural arteriovenous fistulas: diagnosis and follow-up after treatment using a time-resolved 3D contrast-enhanced technique.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) is the method of reference for imaging of dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF). The goal of this study was to analyze the value of different MR images including 3D contrast-enhanced MR angiography (MRA) with a high temporal resolution in diagnostic and follow-up imaging of DAVFs. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 18 MR/MRA examinations...

Noninvasive detection of steno-occlusive disease of the supra-aortic arteries with three-dimensional contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography: a prospective, intra-individual comparative analysis with digital subtraction angiography.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Concomitant disease of the supra-aortic arteries can influence the outcome of surgical treatment of carotid artery stenosis. However, sensitivity and specificity data of noninvasive contrast-enhanced 3-dimensional (3D) magnetic resonance angiography (CE MRA) for the detection of steno-occlusive disease of the entire supra-aortic arteries including the circle of Willis rem...

High spatial and temporal resolution dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA) using compressed sensing with magnitude image subtraction

PURPOSE We propose a compressed-sensing (CS) technique based on magnitude image subtraction for high spatial and temporal resolution dynamic contrast-enhanced MR angiography (CE-MRA). METHODS Our technique integrates the magnitude difference image into the CS reconstruction to promote subtraction sparsity. Fully sampled Cartesian 3D CE-MRA datasets from 6 volunteers were retrospectively under...
